My Priorities for Labour’s Manifesto

1). Commit Labour to a universal basic income to be trialled in former industrial areas.

2). Continue to campaign with the GMB and other trade unions for a real Living Wage of £10 per hour.

3). Commit Labour to repealing anti-trade union legislation so workers can bargain not beg for better terms and conditions.

4). Ensure the next Labour government bans single use plastics.

5). Make sure Labour are committed to legislating for a national register of student landlords.

6). Make sure Labour support giving Council’s borrowing powers to build more social housing and regulate private landlords.

7). Give our communities and parish councils a greater say over developments in their neighbourhoods.

8). Make sure vocational education and apprenticeships are a key part of Labour’s National Education Service.

9). Bring back the Educational Maintenance Allowance.

10). Commit Labour to building a Tees Valley Metro and to the extension of the Tyne and Wear Metro to County Durham and Northumberland.
